Hi everyone,, It has been forever since I updated this blog.. I am going to try to be more active here.. My summer has been wonderful.. I took Kathe Todd-Hooker's tapestry class while she was in Albuquerque for Convergence.. It was wonderful meeting and learning from one of my tapestry idols.
So here is my most recent piece that I wove this month.. It is a wedding gift for a friend.. She is native american.. Her totem is a Macaw and her husbands is Coyote.. While I was weaving it coyotes kept coming too close to my home.. I would not have been surprised if a parrot appeared out of no where..
I used soumack on the tail of the coyote and the beak of the parrot.. And of course eccentric weaving.. The title of the piece is "DREAMING TOGETHER"..
I planned out the bird and coyote.. The rest of the weaving was done spontaneously allowing the sky to do what it wanted.. Oh,,, I also used twining to start ,, and sewed all my long slits together for integrity of the piece..

- I have been weaving since 1975.. I took a weaving class at Washington State University. I was hooked.. I have never found any activity that could make me so happy as weaving.. When I moved back to New Mexico I did not have a large floor loom to weave on so I started weaving on wooden frames..
